In partnership with Anglicare, 666 ABC radio have been encouraging their listeners to dig deep and give to those in need this Christmas.
As an outreach event to help involve the community, the station hosted their Sunday Brunch program on Dec 4 from the lawns of St John’s Care, one of Anglicare’s primary food relief centres.
Listeners and volunteers worked together to pack hundreds of hampers full of donated goods such as custard, lollies, chocolates, biscuits, tea, coffee, ham and of course, mince pies.
Volunteers also coordinated a children’s activity table where kids (and adults) wrote messages of hope and Christmas wishes to be attached to each of the hampers. The heartfelt handwritten notes and drawings captured the heart and spirit of Christmas.
Anglicare staff and clients also had the privilege of speaking on air about the work of Anglicare and how these donations are going to help make Christmas special for families who would otherwise go without.
Donations of non-perishable food items can be accepted towards the ABC 666 Anglicare Giving Tree Appeal until Friday December 9.
