In March, the Anglicare Executive Team and Anglicare’s Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group, hosted a formal farewell for Rev Karen Kime on the banks of Wagga Beach.
As Anglicare’s General Manager of Cultural Safety, Karen made an outstanding contribution to our organisation to lead us in the development and implementation of Anglicare’s Reconciliation Action Plan – our formal commitment to a reconciled Australia.
Karen’s passion and love of First Nations people, culture and community is infectious and inspiring. She supported all of our Aboriginal staff across ACT and NSW, delivered cultural safety training to all levels of the organisation and provided cultural consultations to ensure Aboriginal children, young people and families who are connected to Anglicare services received the best levels of culturally-appropriate care.
Karen leaves a remarkable legacy at Anglicare but most importantly, has challenged and empowered us to continue on the journey of reconciliation.
On behalf of the whole Anglicare family, we send our best wishes and heartfelt thanks to Karen as she begins her next chapter.
