01 December 2016.
Anglicare and 666 ABC are calling on the Canberra community to wrap Christmas hampers for those in need at St John’s Anglican Church on December 4th. The “Wrap Up” event allows Canberrans to get involved with providing Christmas hampers overflowing with donated food and essential living items.
“Anglicare’s partner food-relief centre, St John’s Care were able to provide Christmas hampers to almost 300 families in 2015 and we’re excited to be 666 ABC’s recipient charity partner this year to ensure we can support more families in need across our different services” says Anglicare CEO, Jeremy Halcrow.
The event is part of the 666 ABC Giving Tree Appeal to support children, young people and families through the Christmas season. Donations are being accepted at ABC Canberra and at all Anglicare services in Canberra, Queanbeyan, Goulburn and Yass. Donations are distributed via Anglicare services throughout these areas.
“While being a time of joy and celebration for many, it is no surprise that the financial strain during the Christmas season means more people need our help than any other time of year.”
666 ABC Radio will be broadcasting live from the Giving Tree Appeal “Wrap Up” taking place December 4, 10am-12noon at St John’s Anglican Church, Reid.
Donations towards the Appeal are being accepted until Friday December 9.
