Over 560 people including more than 200 children will be treated to a surprise visit from Santa at Anglicare’s annual Children’s Christmas Party to be held at Goulburn Aquatic and Leisure Centre, 85 Deccan St, from 5-7pm this Thursday 14 December.
The celebration, which has run for over 10 years, was started by Anglicare as a way of connecting with children and families in the Goulburn area over the Christmas period.
“This party is a great way to give families connected with our range of services, especially vulnerable families, the opportunity for their children to experience a fun Christmas celebration – for free!” says Toni Reay, Anglicare’s regional manager of Housing and Social Services.
The party is by invite only and already scores of families have already registered for the day. All children who attend will receive Christmas presents faithfully delivered by Santa, who arrived spectacularly last year in the back of a ute. Community support for the event continues to be strong with involvement from Rotary, and from mayor Bob Kirk, who will also be attending.
“This response from the community has been fantastic, and it’s a testament to the difference that an event like this can for families,” says Ms Reay. “This will be one of our biggest years ever, so we know that Santa will be busy.”
This year, Anglicare’s services in Goulburn have assisted over 1000 people through the provision of emergency accommodation and support, disability services and child care.
