Anglicare’s Retail stores are celebrating National Op-Shop Week in ‘ethical’ style by encouraging shoppers to buy second-hand clothing.
Anglicare’s stores, which operate in Queanbeyan and in Erindale, Jamison and Phillip in Canberra, will be offering half price discounts to all shoppers during the week which is from Monday 28 September to Sunday 4 October.
Retail Manager for Anglicare, Laura Dawson, said National Op Shop Week is a great reminder about the importance of sustainability when it comes to clothing. “Recycled clothing is a great way to reduce landfill and to share resources in a more sustainable way. As we move into spring I really encourage people to look at cleaning out their wardrobes and donating clothing to organisations like Anglicare.”
Anglicare also offers a discounted food service at their Queanbeyan store called Food Fair.
“We know that for many families COVID-19 has mean unemployment, reduced hours and added financial and emotional stress,” says Ms Dawson. “Shopping at an Op Shop is not just a unique alternative to buying new clothes, it’s a great way to make the household budget stretch a bit further.”
