Anglicare (Western region) proudly announces the establishment of a partnership with FoodCare in Orange to provide improved support for vulnerable local families.
The partnership, which commenced last week, allows Anglicare to refer people who are in need of emergency assistance to the FoodCare service at Glenroi Community Centre, Garema Rd, Orange. FoodCare Orange buys supplies from Foodbank in Sydney providing affordable, quality food, groceries and household products to individuals and families on low incomes in the Orange community.
“Some months we have up to 100 people access our emergency support service, many of whom need food assistance,” says Anglicare Survive and Thrive Coordinator, Samara Beasley. “Often people don’t seek help until they reach a point where they can’t afford food and winter is often the hardest time for families. This is why we are so excited about the partnership with FoodCare and the improved support this will give to people in need.”
FoodCare manager, Anne Hopwood, is also delighted by the partnership. “We look forward to working with Anglicare. There is a great strength in good partnerships to make a real difference in our local community.”
Anglicare is open every day from 9am – 5pm located at Holy Trinity Parish Hall, 259 Anson Street, Orange.
FoodCare is open Tuesday and Thursday between 9:30am and 12:30pm.
LiveBetter and FoodCare has also partnered to offer a free transport to people which can be accessed by phoning 0467 229 673 by 4pm Monday for a Tuesday pick-up or 4pm Wednesday for a Thursday pick-up.
