In November, Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, Governor of New South Wales, and Mr. Dennis Wilson hosted a Vice Regal Community Reception in Moruya. As Moruya’s Mayor, Mathew Hatcher explained, the event was an opportunity for the Governor to acknowledge and celebrate the exceptional contributions of community leaders, organisational members, and volunteers in the region, particularly in the aftermath of the 2019-20 Black Summer Bushfires.
Among those invited to this prestigious occasion was Pauline Sullivan, Anglicare’s Emergency Relief Coordinator on the South Coast, who was recognised for her dedication and outstanding service to the community. Pauline is well known and respected in Moruya and the broader Eurobodalla region, and we are thrilled to see her being praised at the highest level for the tireless work she undertakes in the community.
Pauline was surprised to be honoured in such a way. “I was overwhelmed by the invite”, she said, “But it was fantastic for the organisation to be recognised for all the work we are doing. It felt like a pat on the back. It made me feel like I guess I’m doing ok.”
The event was also an opportunity for Pauline and Anglicare staff members to connect with other organisations active in the region. St Peter’s Anglican College in Broulee was especially generous, providing a donation to Anglicare’s Emergency Relief Hub in Moruya and offering ongoing support.
We are thankful to the Governor and all those involved in organising a special evening to highlight the important work of community organisations and dedicated staff members like Pauline.
