Anglicare celebrates NAIDOC Week with Community Lunch at Ashmont Community Centre
The Anglicare team are celebrating NAIDOC Week by inviting people to a community lunch to be held at Ashmont Community Resource Centre, 42 Tobruk Street at 10am on Wednesday 10 July.
The lunch will include a free BBQ, the opportunity to make Johnny Cakes complete with firepit and camp oven, and Indigenous dance performances and craft activities.
“We feel it’s important to provide opportunities for people in the community to connect. We also realise the importance of NAIDOC Week, acknowledging and celebrating our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander heritage,” says Ashmont Community Resource Centre Coordinator, Danny Edwards. “It’s important that this community lunch is significant, as well as fun!”
The Ashmont centre has operated for over a decade and provides a range of community activities and support for families throughout the year, including emergency relief, with around 100 people attending the centre each week.
