High demand for Family Day Care services in Goulburn are putting the squeeze on providers like Anglicare (NSW South, NSW West & ACT) with calls for more people to consider becoming Family Day Care educators.
Anglicare’s early childhood manager, Rose Young advised that the Family Day Care service has seen an increase in enquiries for use of Family Day Care and the service requires more educators to keep up with the demand. “We simply don’t have enough people trained and ready to open their homes to this service,” says Rose. “People need to know that providing this service can be extremely fulfilling, and Anglicare is able to provide the training and support they need to qualify as an educator.”
The appeal for more educators comes as current Anglicare educator, Louise Hill, celebrates after recent win as Regional Educator Winner for Goulburn and Southern Tablelands in the 2020 Family Day Care Australia’s Excellence in Family Day Care Awards.
Louise, who has been a Family Day Carer for over 30 years, says the experience is a rewarding one.
“More people need to consider becoming educators,” says Louise. “It’s a wonderful experience that allows you to meet and serve families in the community. Particularly given the need that is out there, people should really consider contacting Anglicare. The support and encouragement they give is just what I need and helps me to do my job assisting local families.”
