Grateful for your incredible support this Christmas!

Our Blog

Last month, across our emergency relief services, community hubs and youth services, hundreds of Christmas Hampers were filled and distributed—all thanks to the generosity of our supporters and community partners.

We are incredibly thankful to the many schools, parishes, community groups, local businesses and individuals who selflessly donated food, toys, time and financial gifts to make Christmas brighter for those in need.

The list of those who helped is long, but here are a few highlights from across our different regions:

In the ACT, our Gordon Community Centre was once again supported by Calwell Primary School through their annual Giving Tree and Food Drive. Their generous collection, along with donations from other partners and individuals helped the GCC team meet the elevated seasonal demand for crisis assistance—and provided those seeking assistance with holiday treats, along with the essentials.

Our Ashmont Community Resource Centre’s Christmas hamper appeal was also an overwhelming success. Notable contributors include The Riverina Anglican College, Kitson Real Estate, Cleanaway, Baby Bunting, South City Butcher, Service NSW, Westpac Bank, Ability Gateway, and The Leisure Company, among many others. These heartfelt contributions ensured that more than 150 families in need received a Christmas hamper, and children in these households also received a special gift.

The team in Goulburn and Yass were overwhelmed by the kindness shown by the local community. The Anglican Church in Yass, Marulan Public School, Zonta Club, the Make a Wish Foundation, St Saviours Cathedral—and many others all gave generously. More than 90 family and individual hampers were distributed, along with Christmas toys for children.

In Moruya, our community hub was stunned by the tremendous amount of food donated by St Peter’s Anglican School in Broulee. With the demand for emergency relief in the area reaching unprecedented levels, the team was deeply touched by the compassion and selflessness students showed in collecting for others during this Christmas season.

Finally, our Youth Initiative program, which supports young people as they transition out of care and into independent living, was thrilled to receive a generous donation of Christmas gifts from BRC Recruitment and Workpac. A total of 34 young people in our program benefited from this kind gesture, and gifts were carefully selected to meet the needs and interests of individual participants, ensuring each gift feels personal and thoughtful. We are grateful for the support of BRC Recruitment and Workpac for their commitment to making the holidays special for the young people we serve.

We are extremely thankful for all the beautiful contributions we received this Christmas season, which embody the spirit of the season and allow us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those experiencing disadvantage.
