In an inspiring start to National Volunteers Week, Anglicare team members connected with dozens of individuals interested in giving back to their communities during last Saturday’s Volunteering Expo, hosted by Volunteering ACT.
A range of Anglicare’s services rely on the commitment and dedication of volunteers, and the annual Expo is a valuable chance for team members to speak directly with potential volunteers about the various opportunities offered by Anglicare.
Members of our Emergency Relief, Disaster Recovery and Retail teams answered questions and explained their roles within the community. A dedicated volunteer from Anglicare’s retail shop in Phillip, Margaret Jennings, provided stall visitors with a personal perspective as a long-standing Anglicare volunteer.
“Seeing so many people eager to volunteer their time and talents was truly inspiring, said Anglicare’s Senior Manager of Communications and Events, Elizabeth Simpson. “It was heartening to witness such a strong sense of community and a shared commitment to making a difference. The energy and enthusiasm at the expo reminded us all of the incredible impact we can have when we come together to support those in need.”
While time constraints and commitment concerns often prevent community members from becoming volunteers, Anglicare is committed to finding roles that suit the skills and interests of those who are willing to give back. We currently have over 600 volunteers across our organisation, and are always looking for more!
