Anglicare Riverina Financial counselling Services is calling for anyone in the Riverina region who is struggling with finances to make Thursday 18 May the day they fight the stress and take back control. Anglicare, along with other financial service providers, are holding a free Bring Your Bills day at Thurgoona Community Centre on the day from 10:00 am through to 3:00 pm with a free lunch also provided.
For many people financial stress isn’t an isolated inconvenience but affects many areas of their lives.
“Many of the clients we assist have health problems, relationship breakdowns and other issues related to financial stress,” says Susan Cheetham from Anglicare’s Financial Counselling service. “We really encourage people to take advantage of this free help which will be available for people having trouble with bills, fines and debts. For many of the families we support, the first conversation with our service is often the start of a much needed turnaround in their finances and in their lives generally.”
Staff from service providers will be at the centre to answer questions, provide information and advice on different options available to consumers and assist with negotiating with creditors and setting up payment plans.
When a consumer has been unsuccessful in having a matter resolved with an energy provider or a water or sewage issue, then lodging a complaint with the NSW Energy and Water Ombudsman’s service is the next step to getting the matter resolved. Access to the Ombudsman’s service will be available on the day.
Services present on the day include:
