Anglicare officially opened its new Goulburn ECC in the premises of the former TAFE child care centre on May 16.
In opening the new centre, Anglicare CEO Jeremy Halcrow said the story of Anglicare’s children’s services division which now care for over 1000 children in southern NSW and the ACT each week – began in Goulburn 40 years ago this year with the opening of the St Saviours Long Day Care Centre in Cowper St.
“It is poignant that St Saviours has now moved to this site and been able to expand,” he said. “It really does mark the start of a new era.”
State MP for Goulburn the Hon Pru Goward said it was a win-win for the community when Anglicare got involved.
Initially “it was pretty hopeless but it was [Anglicare EM] Simon Bennett’s idea to combine the two facilities so that it could continue. It is great for the Goulburn community, a great partnership with TAFE and it also great for Goulburn families.”
