We would like to thank the many parishes that participated in Anglicare Sunday last month. In recognition of this year’s theme of, For I Was Hungry, most parishes chose to run their Anglicare Sunday service on the 23rd of October. This coordinated with national Anti-Poverty Week and was a timely reminder of the struggle facing many community members as they navigate ongoing, heightened rent and food costs. We are especially appreciative to the parishes who collected donations of financial assistance and pantry items for Anglicare to distribute to those experiencing disadvantage.
Each year, Anglicare Sunday is a time to recognise and celebrate the invaluable relationship between Anglicare and the parishes we partner with. It is a way to thank parishes, parishioners and volunteers for their generosity and involvement and to celebrate how our shared efforts create positive change. It is also an opportunity to connect with new parishes and parishioners by providing examples of the work being done and opening the door for future collaboration.
