Hundreds of families across our region have lost homes, faced repeated evacuations and are facing a long and heartbreaking clean up.

By giving to Anglicare’s Flood Disaster Appeal, you’ll be providing emergency relief and recovery support for families in urgent need.

Already some of our disaster recovery volunteers have been activated to assist in north and west NSW. Our offices are answering calls for help, our emergency relief teams are gearing up to provide material aid, and our chaplains and case management teams are already assisting people in distress.

Some of those affected are the Miller* family with six children ranging in age from 18 months to 20 years of age. They lost their home in the Snowy Valleys region during a freak tornado which severely damaged their home, leaving them with almost nothing.

The Millers moved to a motel for a short time, and then to campsite where they lived in tents before the weather became too wet. The family of eight eventually moved to a one-bedroom cottage owned by a relative.

Sadly, because of persistent rains and flooding, the family can no longer access the property where the cottage is situated. They are now living again in a motel. Our teams have been helping them and networking with other local agencies to provide ongoing support and safe, permanent accommodation.

We would like to advise donors that any Flood Appeal funds raised in excess of what can be distributed to flood-affected communities will be allocated to an Anglicare Disaster Fund so we are resourced to provide immediate assistance to people affected by future natural disasters in our region.
