At Anglicare, we’re proud to support our community with a diverse range of services and programs covering aged care, mental health, youth support, disability, homelessness, foster care and family. Everyone we encounter in the community has a unique story to share, and it’s our privilege to offer comfort and care when people need it most.
Anglicare has recently been working with the community of Batlow NSW, which was heavily affected by bushfires during January this year. The township lost power and mobile phone coverage during the bushfires, with an immense 180,000 hectares of land being completely burnt out. Many families lost their homes and livelihoods, and the community now has a significant road to recovery ahead.
Sarah and her three children – ages 1, 4 and 7 – were one of the Batlow families impacted. After returning from evacuation, Sarah and her children discovered that while their home had been saved by the brave efforts of firefighters, everything else had been destroyed. All the children’s play equipment had been decimated, and their surroundings were completely charred and burnt. This was a shocking site for young children to see and comprehend.
In times of loss though, there are often opportunities for hope. At Anglicare, we’re very pleased to accept a generous donation by Vuly Play, on behalf of Sarah and her family. Vuly Play is Australia’s leading manufacturer of outdoor play equipment. This includes such items as their premium trampolines and custom designed swing and playsets, and their team is eager to restore a smile to the faces of Sarah and her children.
Vuly Play will be donating an Ultra Medium Trampoline to Sarah’s family, which comes complete with in-built safety features designed especially for young children. At Anglicare, we know how much joy and comfort this gesture will bring to Sarah’s family. The generosity of our community sponsors, such as Vuly Play, helps to brighten the lives of many people in what has truly been a tumultuous year.
We’d like to thank our sponsors, staff and volunteers, for their tireless work in assisting the community. For more information about Anglicare support services, please contact (02) 6245 7100 today.
