Thank you for helping to make Christmas so good for children and young people in care. More than $56,000 was raised to assist vulnerable children and young people across the region. These are children like Lily and Hayley.
Tina has been caring for Lily and her younger sister Hayley for three years and says that this year, for the first time, they are beginning to look forward to Christmas.
During their first year at Tina’s house, Lily told her ‘I don’t like Christmas. You wish for things and they never come.’
In Lily’s past, Santa always ended up getting sick or lost.
It has taken three years, but Tina has been able to build a level of trust with the girls to a point where this year when she turned ten, Lily had her first ever birthday party. She has gained a sense of hope for the future and is even looking forward to Christmas. She even wrote a letter to Santa.
Anglicare assists over 400 young people in foster care across South Sydney and regional NSW.
